The definition of unfathomable is : not able to be completely understood; incomprehensible. Not able to be measured.
There are some pretty unfathomable things: like space, the care that God put into each and every detail of the creation of the universe, and… the mind of my husband sometimes (lol!)
That word is even hard to wrap my brain around. So… no matter how hard I try I’ll never understand? I’m a person who strives for knowledge. I’ve always been this way- determined to understand the way things are and why things were happening. As a lover of history, I love to see how things connect and know ‘the why and the how’ of things!
But God’s love? That’s something that we will never understand.
Matthew 10:29-31- “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
I love this verse because not only does it give us a visual representation of how much God deeply cares, it also shows us self-worth.
God loves us so much that he knows the number of hairs on my head? Can you imagine knowing that about a person because you know them so intimately and love them so much? Nope.. we can’t imagine that. And that’s the point!
God loves you so much and wants you to understand your worth to Him. No matter what lies the enemy says, no matter what society tells us, or Instagram, or peers around us, we are WORTH it! We were ALL worth dying for in God’s eyes. We are all worth being loved because God loves us so much that He knows the number of hairs on our head.
So when the enemy tells you that you are unworthy- come at him with the truth of God’s love for you. When the enemy tries to convince you that you are unlovable, show him the proof from the Word of how much God loves you.
The enemy whispers so many lies into our ears daily and we believe them. The enemy gets strongholds in our lives that are hard to break. He tells us that we can’t, and we believe him. He tells us that we aren’t enough, and we believe it. He tells us that we are powerless and we sit down and don’t even try.
God doesn’t want us to think like this! He wants us to rely on HIS power and HIS understanding of the way things work, not our own. The enemies’ lies are distractions and are meant to defeat us. We must see them for what they are and scream back at them that God loves us! That God cares! That we are enough because God created us to be exactly this way! That we are loved in the most complete way possible- by God! That we are worthy of what God has in store for us AND our basic needs. We are worthy of love. We are worthy of food. We are worthy because God says we are. There is no other justification needed.
This self-deprecation that a lot of us hear every day, constantly running in our minds is not how God intended for us to think about ourselves. We are supposed to believe that we are powerful, mighty and loved because of His power and because of His love for us.
So, today, I want you to start speaking these things over yourself. I want you to start telling yourself how much you are loved by God. Saying these 3 simple things, every morning NO MATTER WHAT, is going to start to change this thinking pattern.
I am loved by God.
I am worthy because God created me to be exactly who I am.
I am a strong fighter because God is fighting for me.
The enemy is going to have a hard time discrediting these truths from God. When you hear those lies start to ruminate in your mind, start speaking back. Don’t just lay down and take it. Speak God’s unfathomable love over yourself. See how your perspective shifts and your mind changes.
