Romans 12:2- “ Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. They you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is. His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

What is your goal? This is something that is usually asked at the start of any process in your life. With eating disorders, you need to know what your goal is also. Not your nutritionists, or your therapist’s, or your family’s goal for you. But yours. I would say that the majority of us who live with an eating disorder, our goal is to not be enslaved by the voice in our head anymore. Instead, we want to live a life free from the rules and rigidity of an eating disorder. We want a transformation.

When we start with the end goal in mind, then we can start to make steps to help us get there. One of the things that I knew would tremendously help me get the transformation I wanted was starting to trust that God was going to take care of me. I had to have a complete mind bending overhaul to make the eating disorder voice quiet. The only way to do that is to have another voice speaking to you, encouraging you and giving you peace. That is the voice of God, friends. And the only way to consistently hear the voice of God is to consistently read the word of God, to constantly pray and to consistently apply what He was telling me. Before my eating disorder I may have gotten out my Bible once a month. Only on the bad days, or the days I remembered to. When I started my recovery journey, I started reading my bible, and doing a devotional daily.

Eating Disorder Recovery Blog Day 1, Goals,

Transformation only comes with consistency. Consistency creates new patterns and that is what transforms the mind. Only then, when you really start to hear God’s voice in your life and in your mind will you be able to fully transform into the person that you were meant to be.

It is the Devil’s will that is literally killing you, degrading you and making you feel unworthy. God’s will is on a whole new level. When you are living in it it will make you feel good. You will feel like you are pleasing Him. Most of all, you will know that what you are doing is exactly what God wants you to be doing.

So, who do you want to transform into? What is your goal?
