Judges 6:12- “When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said,  “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”

When someone asks you to describe yourself, what adjectives do you say? You might first say your profession. Then you might say hard worker, efficient, or punctual. But those are just the things we say out loud, the things that we are proud of. What we say to ourselves is even more important; those negative things.

We tend to cling to the negative things that we think of ourselves. We may even try to change them. Thoughts like “I’m a slob”, or “I’ll never get this right,” or “I’m not qualified for this,” or “I’m not enough” are thoughts that stick with us and diminish what we are put on this earth to do. Self-deprecation is not a good thing! It hurts us and limits our potential because we don’t believe that we can do it. We don’t believe that we are qualified or good enough.  You are enough because you were made by God! You are exactly enough of everything that you are supposed to be!

God doesn’t look at how we think of ourselves now, or even what we are doing in life now before he gives us a description. God’s plan and purpose for Gideon was that he was to be a mighty warrior. Gideon wasn’t even in battle yet when God spoke this over him! Gideon was just gardening when the Angel called him a mighty warrior.

You are a mighty Warrior

You should also add the label of mighty warrior to your list of adjectives. You are a warrior, fighting your ED thoughts, anxieties, and fears every day. You are a mighty warrior of God who will overcome this! You first have to start believing about yourself what God already says about you. God knows that you are a fighter and that you can overcome.

Now, do you think you can?

Even if you don’t, start speaking to yourself in this way. Start telling yourself that you can beat this and win because God believes you can. Stop listening to the enemy in your mind tell you that you aren’t enough. It’s a lie. You are enough. You are so much more than enough. You are resilient. You persevere. You are a fighter!

The Enemy is lying to you! You are enough!

Call yourself a mighty warrior for the next 5 days every morning. See what happens. See if your thought patterns change.

Label yourself the way that God wants you to. Don’t shame anything that He created, including yourself.
